FROM THE BIG CYPRESS COLLECTION WOW do we wish all AU early half dimes looked like this! What a neat tiny jewel! All 15 Star half dimes were struck from the LM-1 die pair, which is listed as Rarity-3. This is a totally original, minimally circulated example that has a stunning look for the grade. Clearly this lightly worn example was carefully stored in an old album or similar holder which allowed the lustrous surfaces to acquire a lovely blend of vibrant hues of varied red, blue and golden toning. The devices are sharply struck from a clashed state of the dies. Just a hint of high point friction is seen, but the details are crisp and bold throughout. The eye appeal is spectacular! PCGS 7, NGC 3, CAC 4. This is the most recent example to sell in auction, realizing $10,800 in October 2020, as part of the Maurice Storck Collection.
