Lot Description
1835 Capped Bust Half Dime. LM-10. Rarity-1. Small Date, Small 5 C. MS-66 (NGC). This handsome premium Gem exhibits blended steel-olive and antique gold patina on the obverse, more vivid rose-apricot and cobalt blue toning on the reverse. Both sides exhibit smooth, billowy mint luster to smartly impressed features that are sharply to fully defined throughout the design. Logan and McCloskey's (1998) comment that this is "a very common die marriage" certainly does not apply to expertly preserved coins such as this. Impressive condition rarity for the type, date and die pairing that is sure to catch the eye of discerning bidders. NGC Census (all die marriages of the issue): 21; 4 finer in this category (MS-68 * finest). PCGS# 38719. NGC ID: 232H. Click here for certification details from NGC.
