Lot Description

1849 Liberty Half Eagle. MS-62 (PCGS). This is a mostly sharp example, the strike waning ever so slightly on the obverse over the eagle's neck and the uppermost arrow feather. Also of note is a radiant semi prooflike finish and equally vibrant yellow-gold color. The 1849 is among the more readily obtainable half eagles from the 1840s, but it remains conditionally rare even in lower Mint State grades. Tied for finest certified at PCGS!
