With some speckling to richly original deep brown and steely-copper patina. The mintage of the Sheldon-97 variety is believed to be included in the total of 411,510 cents delivered by the Mint from February 15 to March 13, 1797, using copper blanks supplied by William Coltman's firm The Governor & Company of Copper Miners. The somewhat darker color of this piece illustrates one of the primary characteristics of this planchet stock.
