1897-O Barber Half Dollar. AU-58 (PCGS). The heavily circulated 1897-O Barber half dollar also sports a lower mintage of 632,000 pieces. Writing in the 1991 book <em>The Complete Guide to Barber Halves</em>, David Lawrence describes this issue as:<br /> <br /> Extremely tough F to MS63. Almost never see a nice original XF or AU. The scarcest date in the set from AU to MS62...<br /> <br /> A fitting introduction to this overall bold, minimally circulated survivor. With ample mint luster awash in blended blue-gray, tannish-rose and ""old silver"" patina.
