Lot Description
1787 Immune Columbia. W-5680. IMMUNIS COLUMBIA, Eagle Reverse. Fine-12. 154.7 grains. Attractive smooth chocolate brown with nice surfaces, just a small area of olive verdigris atop the reverse. Apparently struck at the end of the planchet strip, with a crude straight clip, as struck, atop the obverse and a related flaw just beneath it. Scattered light contact marks are present on both sides, old scratch near eagle's beak, another below A of COLUMBIA. Just the tops of the date digits are visible, a problem that plagues this issue. The sharpness and eye appeal remain nice on this piece, and it would serve as a perfectly nice type coin. PCGS# 841. Provenance: From the Ted L. Craige Collection.
