Lot Description

This gorgeous coin is fully brilliant and is highly lustrous and satiny. It is sharply struck even over the central high points, with surfaces that are exceptionally smooth and well preserved for this conditionally challenging issue.<p>Circulation strike silver dollar production at the Philadelphia Mint amounted to 11,100,000 coins in 1882, a generous total for the type. Although plentiful in lower grades through MS-64, the 1882 emerges as a scarcer issue at the MS-65 level. In Superb Gem Mint State, as here, it is very rare, seldom offered, and represents an important find for advanced Morgan dollar collectors. Just three coins have been certified finer by PCGS through MS-68.
