1838-O Seated Liberty Dime. No Stars. MS-64 (NGC). This is the first New Orleans Mint Dime, and it is also the only mintmarked issue of the short-lived Seated Liberty, No Stars type. Of the 1838-O Gerry Fortin (seateddimevarieties.com) states:<br /> <br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Typically available in grades VG through EF.&nbsp; A difficult date in AU or better with few Mint State examples known.<br /> <br /> An important condition rarity that is also sure to appeal to the advanced type collector, this satiny near-Gem exhibits brilliant silver-white surfaces. Bold-to-sharp in strike, and remarkably smooth for a coin with&nbsp;such a wide-open field area on the obverse.<br />
