- 1808 Classic Head Cent. S-279. Rarity-1. EF-40 (PCGS). OGH--First Generation. Richly toned in a blend of copper-rose and steel-olive, the latter associated with some ancient surface build up in the protected areas around the design elements on the reverse. The strike is off center to 5 o'clock on the obverse, 1 o'clock on the reverse, with the result that we note only partial denticulation around both sides. All major design elements are bold, however, and in the absence of detracting marks this is certainly a desirable EF type candidate from the first year of the challenging Classic Head cent series.
