Lot Description: Presented here for your bidding pleasure is the SOLE FINEST PCGS certified 1942-P "War" nickel. Boldly lustrous with dramatic and colorful toning on both sides, pastel gold, peach, champagne, and bands of rainbow grace the smooth, problem free surfaces. Nicely struck, with parts of all six steps on Montecello visible, just not fully rendered to the point of a FS designation. The eye appeal is about as fine as you could ever expect to see for a War nickel. PCGS 1, NGC 3. This coin has not been in auction. The last NGC coin sold for $4,113 in a June 2014 auction.
