Lot Description

1797 Liberty Cap Half Cent. C-3a. Rarity-3. Low Head, Plain Edge. Fine-12 (PCGS). Light autumn-brown patina with subtle marbling of golden-tan. Peripheral detail is soft toward the lower right obverse, upper right reverse, affecting the word OF in the legend the most. Most major features are bold, nonetheless, and the date is sharp. There is evidence of an old cleaning, the surfaces also with microscopic pitting and numerous wispy handling marks. Pleasingly in hand, however, and a more than respectable circulated representative of this Cohen number. Manley Die State 1.0. PCGS# 35107. NGC ID: 2228.
