- Lot Description
- A bold and lustrous near-gem example of this conditionally scarce early issue. A blazing mint luster shines on both sides, show hints of reflectivity and are haloed by a lovely, original dappled album toning. The central obverse strike is a little weak, as typically seen on this date. The surfaces are clean and free of any distracting marks and is ever so close to a higher grade; the eye appeal certainly is really great! PCGS 176, NGC 145 , CAC 21. Only 9 are graded MS64+ by PCGS. The only CAC approved MS64+ to sell in auction was the similarly toned Eric Newman coin that sold for $6,463 in November 2013. It also has a similar look to the MS65 PCGS that sold in October 2016 for $6,756. We think this coin should sell for a strong price to any Walker specialist!
