Losbeschreibung
The first year of coinage operations at the Carson City mint produced 54,617 half dollars, and the needs of the regional economy kept these in circulation for a long time. Most known examples are heavily circulated and have condition issues. This choice XF has a very good look. Generally smooth and problem free light circulation in the fields and on the design elements. A glass reveals a few minor circulation marks, none that are obtrusive to the good eye appeal. The surfaces are toned in a slate and battleship blend of blue/gray that yields to some rose and gold accents when rotated in a light. The devices are well defined with a good strike. This generally problem free example has a neat look. PCGS 7, NGC 7. It is interesting that there are no CAC-approved examples in XF40, XF45, and AU50. The most recent PCGS XF45 to sell in auction realized $17,625 in the 2015 FUN auction - hard to believe that was four years ago! More recently a PCGS AU50 sold for $21,000 in the 2019 FUN sale. This is a great coin for any collector looking to start a set of Carson City Seated halves. Good luck! Cert. Number 60163255 PCGS # 6328
