- 1861 Gold Dollar. MS-64 (PCGS). OGH.
This fully struck, reddish-apricot, vibrantly lustrous coin would make a lovely addition to a high quality type set to illustrate the Type III gold dollar. Clash marks (as made) on both sides are particularly pronounced and include, on the reverse, a virtually complete word LIBERTY near the date. 1861 is considered a popular year in U.S. numismatics due to that marking the beginning of the Civil War.
PCGS# 7558. NGC ID: 25CU.
