Lot Description

1850-C Liberty Quarter Eagle. Winter Variety 1 (12-G). AU-50 (PCGS). Similar in overall rarity to the 1840-C, the 1850-C is more challenging to collect than such other Charlotte Mint Quarter Eagles as the 1843-C Large Date, 1848-C and 1858-C. Awash in rich olive-orange color, the present example also exhibits a generally bold strike that comes up short in only a few areas in and around the centers. A few wispy grazes are confined to the fields, and other abrasions are smaller in size and less conspicuous to the unaided eye.
