- 1939 Mercury Dime. Proof-67 Cameo (PCGS). Proof Mercury dimes as a type are rarely encountered with enough field to device contrast to support a Cameo designation from the major certification services. Indeed, this 1939 is one of only 11 examples of the entire type to have received a CAM designation from PCGS, just two of which are from other dates (a 1937 and a 1942). Satiny and fully struck, the devices offer considerable contrast with deeply mirrored fields. The entire package is free of both grade limiting contact marks and significant toning, although a few splashes of pale-silver tinting are evident near the right obverse border. A rare bidding opportunity for the advanced Registry Set collector of proof Mercs.
