- Virtually brilliant and highly lustrous with a whisper of faint golden toning within the tresses of Liberty's hair. The Bowers reference on this series notes: "As a handy rule of thumb, to command a market premium the number of vestigial tips visible under the seven tailfeathers should be at least four, with the more the better, sometimes having as many as seven showing." The Strong variety, as designated by PCGS - and represented here - shows five underlying feathers as well as repunching on the underside of the lowest arrow feather and in the leaves and branch to the viewer's left. Take a good look at this Morgan dollar, as few examples of this popular scarcity have been graded finer by PCGS than the presently offered Gem.
