Lot Description
Lot 45 1793 S-10 R4 Wreath Cent with Vine & Bars Edge. PCGS graded AU-55. CAC.Very attractive glossy medium reddish chocolate brown with traces of lighter brown toning in protected areas. The surfaces are smooth and this cent offers great eye appeal. Sharply struck and nearly flawless. The only notable marks are a small planchet flake at the end of a hair strand behind the head (as struck) and a tiny rim nick over the E in LIBERTY. Sharply struck E-MDS, Breen state I late. The border beads before the mouth are starting to weaken but are still clearly visible. Graded EF45 by Del Bland and listed as tied for CC#6 in the Bland/Breen condition census. Noyes says EF40 and tied for CC#7 in his list. A sharp, beautiful cent that comes with a provenance that includes some of the brightest luminaries in large cent collecting. Our grade is EF40+, close to EF45. Pop 1; 3 finer for the variety; 1 in 58+; 2 in 64.Just sent in and graded for the first time. Estimate Value $25,000 - UP Ex George W.
