- 1879 Trade Dollar. Proof-61 Cameo (PCGS). Light gold dominates both sides of this scarce Proof specimen with frosty devices that float against watery and reflective fields. The year 1879 inaugurates a run of Proof-only dates that would continue through the series' official end in 1883. With a mintage of 1,541 Proofs, survivors are scarce from a market availability standpoint, especially with a Cameo designation. Provenance: From the Collection of Silas Stanley Roberts, 1888-1966.
