1795 Washington Grate Halfpenny. Baker-29D, W-10950. URS-9. Small Buttons. Reeded Edge. MS-62 BN (PCGS). A second Mint State example of this popular Conder token type, the piece in this lot illustrates the scarcer Small Buttons <em>Guide Book </em>variety. We note a mostly even blend of original medium-orange color and gray-brown toning, but a series of interesting die breaks and planchet flaws (as made) around the top of Washington's portrait has resulted in&nbsp;marked variation to the toning in that area. Fully original, and quite smooth for the grade as far as abrasions are concerned. Late die state with a prominent chip out of the obverse die below the letters ON in WASHINGTON.
