1838 Classic Head Half Eagle. HM-1. Rarity-3. Center Dot, Broken Arrow. AU-58 (PCGS). Frosty deep orange-gold surfaces are predominantly smooth and appealing at the near-Mint level of preservation. A boldly defined example with handsome originality. The 1838 rivals the 1837 as the scarcest Philadelphia Mint issue in the Classic Head half eagles series.
