Lot Description

O-114 is the true Redbook "large stars" obverse variety, as it lacks the errant fraction that distinguishes the 50/20 varieties. Substantial luster would appear to elevate this bold, glossy example to the AU level, but NGC offers only XF-45 as the final grade. Conservative assessment may be a net grade taking into account an old cleaning as well as a number of curious, shallow scratches above the eagle, but the eye-appeal remains quite exciting overall. Slightly better struck than normal, each star features full segmentation, and the difficult separation between chin and throat remains apparent.
