- 1794 Liberty Cap Half Cent. C-1a, B-1a, Manley Die State 2.0. Rarity-3. Large Edge Letters. AU-50 (PCGS). Deep chocolate brown with ruddy chestnut highlights in the protected areas. Boldly impressed devices. Variety with 179 in date first punched low into the die, partly effaced, then repunched in a higher position. Reverse aligned 275º, top of wreath points just south of 3:00. An in-hand beauty with no marks visible to the unassisted eye; low magnification reveals a natural reverse planchet fissure, small and as struck, that runs from the rim through the M in AMERICA, and a smaller fissure from the rim to the E of that word, but no other marks of merit. A gorgeous coin for the grade with outstanding eye appeal--this one belongs in your collection.
