1849-O Liberty Head Eagle. Winter-1. EF-45 (PCGS). OGH. Vivid deep golden-yellow is seen on both sides, as is plenty of luster and sharp striking detail. The mintage is only 23,900 pieces, and as with virtually every other gold coin struck in New Orleans before the Civil War, wear and tear in commerce was the norm and not the exception. A significant condition rarity in AU and finer grades, any attractive Choice EF 1849-O eagle such as this deserves serious bidder consideration. Provenance: From the Steve Studer Collection.
