Lot Description
1823 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-101a. Rarity-1. Patched 3. AU-50 (PCGS). Bright silver with ample luster remaining in the protected areas of the design. Generally sharp in terms of strike, with no marks or handling that warrants mention. The Overton reference notes that the difference between the Broken 3 and Patched 3 varieties is that a small punch was sunk in the die at the junction of the two halves of the 3 to strengthen the connection on the Patched 3 variety.
