- Undated (Circa 1663-1672) St. Patrick or Mark Newby Halfpenny. Vlack 2-C, W-11540. Large Letters. Copper. Reeded Edge. VF-25 (PCGS). 126.2 grains. Chestnut-brown high points stand out boldly against chocolate-brown fields. <strong>Breen-201:</strong> "Checkerboard floor. Very rare." Not noticeably marked, even under low magnification. Brass splasher at center of crown, letters of FLOREAT helter-skelter in the die, O, R, and T all repunched, REX evenly spaced, EX somewhat weak, reverse as pleasing as the obverse for overall quality, GREX uneven in the die, G and R widely spaced and high, EX at a sharp angle and low. Choice for the grade and one for the specialists.
