Lot Description

The accuracy of the BN designation from PCGS notwithstanding, this premium near-Gem example retains considerable faded rose-red mint color on both sides. Well blended golden-brown toning is also very much in evidence, as is a delightful soft satin texture to the finish. Central striking detail is bold, that at the borders a bit soft, although the latter is due to die state (Noyes B/B). A couple of spots that are out of the way near the right obverse and reverse borders provide the most obvious explanation for why this coin did not secure an even higher numeric grade.
