- With vivid medium gold color overall. The brilliant finish adds further appeal, as does razor sharp strike detail that has imparted full definition throughout the design. Coinage of Proof quarter eagles tapered off with the production of only 144 coins in 1905, the lowest number of any Proof delivered during the final decade of the Liberty Head design type. The brilliant finish as seen here proved to be popular among the numismatists of the day and was continued up until the end of the series, so popular in fact that many collectors eschewed the Sandblast Proof finish of the subsequent Indian quarter eagles.
