Lot Description

1893 Liberty Double Eagle. Proof-60 Cameo (PCGS). Frosted central devices and reflective fields display rich sunset-orange hues on medium golden surfaces. Some scattered marks account for the grade, as this specimen was mishandled somewhat over the years. Only 59 proofs of the date were struck, however, and it is significant enough to note here that PCGS has deemed only two of the specimens that have crossed their path as CAM. As is frequently seen, the reverse is far finer than the obverse for a coin at the assigned grade, although the overall appeal is better than typical. A nice opportunity for an alert specialist.<br />
