1786 Connecticut Copper. Mailed Bust Facing Left. W-2575, Miller 5.3-N. URS-11. Hercules Head. VF-25 (PCGS). CAC. The distinct appearance of this <em>Guide Book </em>variety makes it among the more popular Connecticut Coppers among specialists. The present example is lightly struck in the centers due to die sinking--a very common attribute for the variety--but moderate wear is evenly distributed over both sides. The obverse is the bolder of the two sides, allowing full appreciation of the Hercules Head design. Dark-copper patina throughout, a bit of old, light verdigris around the peripheral devices is hardly worth mentioning for a mid-grade Connecticut Copper.
