Lot Description

Undated (ca. 1793-1795) Kentucky Token. W-8805. Rarity-6. Copper. Engrailed Edge. MS-64 BN (PCGS). Smooth, hard and satiny, the otherwise golden-brown surfaces reveal considerable pinkish-red mint color in the protected areas around the peripheral design elements. Sharply struck overall with exceptional eye appeal. This edge variant of the type is often seen in high grades, indicating that it is was made specifically for collectors. On the other hand, the Engrailed Edge Kentucky is very scarce in an absolute sense. Provenance: From our (Bowers and Merena's) sale of the Norweb Collection, Part I, October 1987, lot 1391.
