Lot Description
Beautiful tan-gold surfaces are enhanced by iridescent highlights of champagne-pink and pale apricot. Fully lustrous and satiny, the surfaces are expertly preserved and the design elements sharply defined to further enhance the desirability of this impressive piece. With 49,840,000 coins struck, the 1863 Indian cent has the highest mintage of any issue in the 1860s. It is readily available in most Mint State grades but becomes critically scarce above the basal MS-66 level. The present example is one of the finest certified, and it represents a serious prize for advanced specialists in this series.
