1794 Liberty Cap Cent. S-65. Rarity-1. Head of 1794. EF-40 (NGC). A lovely 1794 cent with glossy light chocolate-brown and tan surfaces that are smooth and remarkably free of contact marks or other impairments. Struck from a late, though not the latest, state of the dies, Heck DS8, with a heavy die crack down from the reverse rim at 12 o'clock between ES and the top of the wreath through the E in ONE, and another through the second A of AMERICA to the ribbon bow. On the obverse, die cracks are seen at the date and the lower bust as well. Here is an ideal example of the type and date that is also technically interesting as a die variety and die state.
