1722 Rosa Americana Penny. Martin 2.36-D.8, W-1268. Rarity-4. UTILE DULCI. EF-45 (PCGS). 110.3 grains. A bold rosette between 2 and R on the obverse border is the diagnostic characteristic of this Martin variety. The slightly granular surfaces reveal charcoal-brown and lavender hues, and occasional small areas of gold-tan patina. Lightly worn and free of any noteworthy marks or abrasions on either side.
