1842-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 7-E. Small Date, Small Letters. EF-45 (NGC). A bright golden example with subtle pale olive undertones. Striking detail is sharp by Dahlonega Mint standards, a feature that is easily appreciated due to there being only light wear. The 1842-D Small Date, Small Letters is a conditionally challenging half eagle with most survivors well worn and grading no higher than EF-40.
