1797 Liberty Cap Half Cent. C-1. Rarity-2. 1 Above 1, Plain Edge. Fine-12 (PCGS). Pleasing reddish-copper surfaces retain overall bold definition from a generally well executed strike. Only the word HALF in the center of the reverse is appreciably soft, and all four letters are discernible. Smooth in hand, we note only wispy handling marks that are easily overlooked at the assigned grade level. Cohen-1 is the most frequently encountered die marriage of the 1797 half cent, and it is of further desirability as the popular 1 Above 1 Guide Bookvariety. Manley Die State 4.0. PCGS# 1042.
