- 1840 Seated Liberty Half Dollar. Small Letters. WB-101. AU-55 (NGC). CAC. This is the normal date attribution for the issue, the present example not revealing any repunching to the digits. A crisply impressed, minimally worn piece bathed in deep, rich, antique-copper patina. Although fairly plentiful in lower grades, the 1840 Small Letters half dollar is fairly scarce in EF/AU and rare in Mint State.
