- Delightful color in vivid golden-apricot, presenting as "fresh" as the vivid luster beams off the surfaces. With 5,708,802 pieces produced, the 1881 is the highest mintage Liberty Head $5. Many examples were repatriated from foreign banks beginning in the mid 20th century, providing thousands of Mint State coins. However, most have significant marks and other signs of poor handling, limiting them MS-63 and lower grades. This above average example is sure to appeal to astute gold collectors.
