Lot Description
1787/1877 Connecticut Copper. Miller 12-Q, W-2885. Rarity-3. Mailed Bust Left. VF-30 (PCGS). The deep golden-brown surfaces of this popular overdate variety are uniformly microgranular throughout yet basically devoid of contact marks of any nature. We note a natural fissure, as struck, from the rim at noon downward across the effigy's face on the obverse, as well as swelling and weakness at CONNEC, otherwise the devices are crisp and bold for the grade. The reverse is somewhat off-center toward 1 o'clock with the rim there tight to the tops Liberty's head and ET, small die break in the field between IN and DE near Liberty's branch hand, another from the rim through B of LIB. All told, a wholly acceptable example of a popular design type within the series.
