FROM THE BIG CYPRESS COLLECTION This is a very pleasing O-115a. One of the more available die pairs of the year, this would make a great example for a Red Book variety set. Really CHOICE AU, this piece boasts a crisp strike from an obverse die that had been cracked in multiple places and a reverse that was starting to show cracks as well. Wonderful and original toning graces both sides, deeper lilac and slate at the rims, lightening to amber-gold in the centers. The luster really makes this coin POP in the light and we see no reason for CAC not to have beaned this coin. PCGS 61, NGC 46. The most recent non-CAC example sold in March 2020 for $4,800 and this one has a better look. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $5,250. No PCGS AU58 has sold since November 2017.
