Description du lot
1828 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-102. Rarity-2. Curl Base No Knob 2. MS-64+ (PCGS). CAC. This lovely near-Gem exhibits iridescent cobalt blue peripheral highlights to otherwise silver-apricot and pinkish-gold surfaces. Softly frosted in finish with a silky smooth appearance in hand, sharp to full striking detail is also a praiseworthy attribute. Off the market for several decades and consequently not included in the Autumn 2020 revision to Stephen J. Herrman's AMBPR for Bust half dollars, this is a newcomer to the Condition Census for the 1828 O-102 dies that is sure to catch the eye of advanced collectors. Provenance: From the Naples Bay Collection. Earlier from our (Stack's) sale of April 1957, lot 1028; our (Stack's) sale of the Winter Collection, January-February 1974, lot 1422. Lot tags included. PCGS# 6148. NGC ID: 24FR. Click here for certification details from PCGS. Image with the PCGS TrueView logo is obtained from and is subject to a license agreement with Collectors Universe, Inc. and its divisions PCGS and PSA.
