Lot Description
1805 Draped Bust Quarter. B-2. Rarity-2. AU-55 (NGC). This boldly toned, wonderfully original example is bathed in a blend of steel gray, cobalt blue, deep mauve and antique gold patina. Appreciably lustrous, as befits the assigned grade, with a somewhat soft strike, yet little to report in the way of actual wear. This is a scarce and conditionally challenging type, Draped Bust quarters produced in limited numbers due to the unpopularity of this denomination relative to the half dollar in the eyes of contemporary silver bullion depositors. As an uncommonly well preserved and handsome Choice AU, the 1805 B-2 offered here represents a significant find for the high grade type collector. Provenance: From the Greenway Collection. Earlier from our (Stack's) December Sale of 1979, lot 191. Partial lot tag and Stack's paper envelope included. PCGS# 5313. NGC ID: 23RC. Click here for certification details from NGC.
