- 1797 Liberty Cap Half Cent. C-1. Rarity-2. Manley Die State 4.0. 1 Above 1. Plain Edge. EF-45 BN (NGC).
An original, Choice EF with even chocolate brown coloration and nice surfaces overall. A second digit 1 is punched into the field directly above the primary digit 1 in the date. There are also several small die lumps directly above the date, and below the letter L in LIBERTY. A diagonal die crack connects from the tip of Liberty's nose to the obverse rim near 4 o'clock, and a fainter crack travels from the upper rim through the right of B, to the top of Liberty's head. The letters RTY in LIBERTY, the denominational fraction, and the letter A in HALF are all softly impressed -- additional diagnostics of Manley Die State 4.0 for the 1797 C-1 half cent.
PCGS# 35101.
