Lot Description
THE BOYLSTON COLLECTION, PART IV The 1880s saw a dramatic drop in mintages for circulating silver coins (other than silver dollars of course). Only 8,000 circulation strikes were minted in 1883, which puts additional demand from collectors for Proof strikes, of which 1,039 were made. This SPECTACULAR example is TIED FOR FINEST GRADED at PCGS in the CAM designation and it is not hard to see why! Incredible, deep, beaming mirrors are the epitome of perfection! Sleek, smooth, and pristine, the surfaces are FLAWLESS and blindingly brilliant. Sharp, frosted devices stand out in stark relief against the surrounding mirrors. The eye appeal is incredible! Ex Stephen Stokely #1 PCGS Registry Set of Proof Seated Half Dollars, Heritage, August 2006, lot 5254; Joseph Thomas Collection, Heritage, April 2009, lot 2488; Peter Kevorkian Collection, Heritage, April 2011, lot 5182; Greensboro Collection, Part II, Heritage, January 2013, lot 5692. PCGS 4, NGC 6. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $15,000. PCGS has never graded anything finer than PR67 in ANY designation. This is a real prize for the advanced collector who demands TOP POP coins. We expect this coin to bring a strong bid when the hammer falls. Good luck. Cert. Number 14534134 PCGS # 86444
