Lot Description

1796 Draped Bust Cent. S-103. Rarity-4. LIHERTY Error. VG-8 BN (NGC). An attractive and well balanced example of the scarce LIHERTY Error Red Bookvariety. Reasonably smooth medium brown and steel surfaces are just microporous under a glass and show fewer circulation marks than you would expect at the grade level. Good fullness of detail as the date, legends, and devices are all easily visible. There is just a touch of weakness at the very bottom of the date and the corresponding tops of a few reverse letters due to strike. A commendable example of this challenging variety, one that would do justice to even an advanced large cent collection.
