Lot Description

53.1 grains. A remarkable second offering for Chalmers' Short Worm shilling from the August cabinet, this one equally as well struck with fully denticulated borders and design elements that are boldly to sharply defined overall. Faint marks are scattered about, the surfaces are microscopically pitted, and a touch of glossiness from an old cleaning is noted for accuracy, but both sides have retoned nicely with hints of olive to dominant light silver gray color. This will nicely represent the most popular of John Chalmers denominations in many type sets of colonial and early U.S. coinage.
