Tompkins Die Stage 1/5, Rea et al. Die State c (Stage 4), Rarity-6. <strong>Tompkins Plate Coin</strong>. This second example of the 1825/4/2 Browning-2 in Die Stage 1/5 from the Tompkins Reference Collection shows considerably more wear, but the arrow heads are still clear, confirming once again that the break at lower right reverse is a retained cud. Nearly untoned on that side, the obverse exhibits pronounced circulated cameo contrast between bright silver motifs and rich steely-charcoal, deep olive, and reddish-russet patina in the fields.<p><strong>Steve M. Tompkins Commentary:</strong> Mike Crowder, a fellow BHNC member, brought this coin and offered it to me at our club's "corn roast" that we hold each year prior to the ANA show. It is a lovely example and the highest graded that I owned until buying the example in the previous lot. Thank you Mike!
