- 1785 Vermont Copper. Landscape. RR-2, Bressett 1-A, W-2005. Rarity-4-. VERMONTS. VF-30 (PCGS).
95.4 grains. Lovely glossy light brown with great eye appeal. Aligned to 2 o'clock on the obverse, 9 o'clock on the reverse, with the tops of PUBLIC off the planchet and some of [STEL]LA QUAR to a lesser extent. Planchet flaw present left of the plow, affecting VE of VERMONTS, otherwise the planchet is superb. Good central detail, far nicer than usual for a Ryder-2, nicer than the Boyd-Ford duplicate if not quite as nice as the Whipple-Ryder-Boyd coin that brought $8912.50 in 2003. This would upgrade a lot of serious Vermont collections, and it would make a nice addition to any cabinet.
PCGS# 539.
Provenance: From the John "Jack" Royse Collection. Purchased from The Old Roman.
