- Struck in either goloid or standard alloy silver. <strong>Obv:</strong> A head of Liberty faces left with the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM above, the date 1879 below, and 13 stars arranged around the border seven left and six right. Liberty is wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY. <strong>Rev:</strong> The inscription 895.8 S. / 4.2 - G. / 100 - C. / 25 GRAMS is centered within a beaded circle, outside of which is a wreath of corn and cotton. The Latin motto DEO EST GLORIA is inscribed within an ornamental cartouche at the top of the wreath. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is inscribed along the upper border and the denomination ONE DOLLAR is inscribed along the lower border. This enchanting Gem Proof exhibits a dusting of sandy-gold and lemon-yellow iridescence to fully impressed, gently reflective surfaces. A great "entry" level pattern silver dollar.
