Lot Description
What a neat coin! Graded back in the early days of PCGS and housed in a first generation "rattler" holder, this conservatively graded, deeply toned beauty has been awarded the coveted GOLD CAC sticker, and it is no question why! The surfaces are generally very smooth and free of any singularly distracting marks (a few minor ticks are noted, but would not be out of place on a coin graded 63). Deep pewter-slate patina shows hints of gold and lavender when rotated at certain angles. The eye appeal is exceptional for MS62, and would be great for a 63 as well. PCGS 17, NGC 9, CAC 7. This is the only GOLD CAC example for the entire date. This is also the only PCGS/CAC coin to sell in auction in five years, realizing $1,410 in the 2017 FUN auction. A PCGS/CAC MS63 with a somewhat splotchy look realized $1,998 in December 2015. This coin should see spirited bidding and realize a strong price when it crosses the block. Cert. Number 7287112 PCGS # 6239
